From March 28th to 30th, the Verde Sports Hall hosted the Balkan Kendo Cup – the largest event of its kind to date, gathering 180 participants from as many as 11 countries: Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Bulgaria, Turkey, Romania, and Malta.

Organized by the Kendo Federation of Montenegro, this year’s cup confirmed the growing importance and popularity of kendō in the Balkans. The Montenegrin national team once again proved its strength, with our competitors reaching four finals out of six competitive categories.

Kendo, the art of Japanese swordsmanship, has been present in Montenegro for around twenty years, and events like this one demonstrate that the community is becoming stronger and more prominent on the regional sports calendar. The Verde Sports Hall has once again proven to be a perfect venue for major international sporting events.
